The Bible has established clear-cut principles for sound money management; principles that, when applied in faith, will insure success and financial freedom for you and your family. This series of money management principles will continue throughout the year as there are 26 lessons in this series and 26 pay periods this year. It is designed both for those who are successful and for those who find themselves in financial difficulty and want help.  This year we will rediscover what the Bible has to say about the finances you have been given charge over. Please take the time to search out the scriptures that I will provide in this series.

Note " Much of this information has come through leaders that have spoken directly into my life, such as Caleb McAfee and you may find a lot of this material in his book "Money & the Christian"

Lesson 1

For those of you that are in financial straits or your financial situation is less than ideal, you must take the following six steps:

  • Don't Despair. Worry and anxiety are sinful and they don't provide the atmosphere of faith needed to produce your financial breakthrough. (Psalm 27:14)
  • Turn to the Lord in time of crisis. Don't try to figure or calculate a way out of your financial problems until after you have allowed the Holy Spirit to minister hope to your spirit (Pslm 46:1)
  • Seek the Lord earnestly. He is not trying to avoid you, he will be found by those serious about seeking Him and His ways (Jeremiah 29:11-13)
  • Believe that God will rescue you as His word is received and acted upon in faith (Isaiah 46:4)
  • Carefully read out load and meditate every scripture in this study. (Romans 10:17)
  • Determine to learn form your experience so you can minister to others who are experiencing you same situation. ( 2 Corinthians 1:3-4)

Lesson 2

Last pay period I gave you six steps when applied with faith would insure success and financial freedom. First you must believe you can!

Belief is an attitude, a point of view, the way you think about something. You form attitudes through knowledge and experience. Furthermore, you can change your attitude if you motivate yourself to do so.

If you dislike someone because of a particular thing that they do or the way they deal with others and they do the unexpected and change the things that are offensive to you, then most likely you will change your opinion when you notice their behavior becomes favorable to you. What Happened? Your Attitude changed because the person changed. Its the same with your attitude toward yourself. It too can change if you change. But you have to do the changing.

Often we try to mold ourselves to the attitudes of the world around us when we should be striving to reach an attitude that is like Jesus. Read Romans 12:2 (NIV)

Do you think of yourself as being broke most of the time, disorganized, unable to fulfill your dreams. always at the bottom of the ladder? Its the way of the world to let life get you down because it takes no effort on your part to feel down and out. Is anyone really happy that way, of course not! What we all want is opportunity and that my friend begins with attitude. I have found that opportunity is everywhere because we can create it! Your attitude must be positive if you are to create opportunity. Every company that Sandra and I were created out of the opportunities that we pursued. Yes it will take effort and risk, along with a positive attitude.

It just seems to reason with me that you don't start a journey to a destination without believing you're going to get there.

If you didn't have a strong desire to improve your attitude about yourself, you would not be interested in self-motivation and would not be reading this blog. The fact that you are indicates you are honest about yourself and wish to have an attitude of security and self-confidence.

And now you can do something to bring about this new attitude, first believe in yourself. In the next lesson I will discuss four things you must do that are basic to believing in yourself.

Lesson 3

In the last lesson I promised you that in this lesson I would show you 4 things you must do that are basic to believing in yourself.

First you must make a list of the goals in your life, both for your success and your happiness. Below I will give you some samples.

  • To get along with other people more effectively
  • To become a better parent
  • To be the best at whatever you do
  • To read my Bible daily and do what it says
  • To do something every day to help someone else

Now that you have the idea, arrange your goals in the order of the priority you give them along with a date indicating when you would like to accomplish it, but remember the important thing here is to be realistic about the goal and the date.

Second you must make a list to the steps you need to take to reach your various goals. This may involve watching less TV, developing a habit of getting up earlier. Developing ways to communicate more effectively by listening with the intent of understanding rather than replying.

Third you need to remember in order to reach your goals step by step, there are certain qualities of personal behavior that will be required by you. Again be honest with yourself and list them. Some examples are honesty, integrity, pleasant personality, mental awareness, neatness in appearance, devotion to duty and hard work.

Fourth the last but not least, requires yet another list. It is vital that you list those qualities you find yourself deficient in or lacking altogether. These are qualities you must work to acquire. This will give you a good start to have a profile of your present self and a profile of what your goals require in relation to you. Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them. John 13:7
